The files available for download here are NOT compatible with Excel 95/Version 7. Versions prior to Excel 97 do not support the formatting techniques I use to duplicate the look of original source documents. |
Microsoft WorksMicrosoft Works is not a full-featured spreadsheet program and is not compatible with CensusTools spreadsheets. You may be able to open a worksheet with acceptable appearance, but you will likely not be able to successfully enter and save data. |
Lotus 1-2-3I have exported my spreadsheet into various Lotus 1-2-3 versions and again, the formatting does not translate. I have no plans to support Lotus. |
Quattro ProQuattro Pro 7 will not open the spreadsheet. Quattro Pro 8 will open them but does not support the formatting tricks I used in Excel 97. I have not received any reports on more recent versions. I have no plans to support Quattro Pro. |
Sun Star OfficeMy old copy of Sun Star Office 5.2 opened the spreadsheets with no problems noted. I have not evaluated more recent versions, but I would expect continued compatibility. Star Office is available as a download from Sun Microsystems. The cost as of Dec 04 was $79.95 and Sun offers a free evaluation copy. |
Microsoft Excel ViewerMicrosoft distributes a FREE viewer which can be used to view and print Excel spreadsheets. No data entry is possible. If all you want to do is be able to print blank forms then Excel Viewer will do the job. It is described and available as a free download from Microsoft. |
