Each month I will feature a few of my favorite links from my travels around the Internet. I haven't had much time for my normal surfing but I do want to pass along a link to this website I found. Census CentralCensus Central, a website similar in purpose to Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness features many of volunteers around the country willing to do census lookups. For anyone who can't travel to a library this free service might be just what you need to get the census information you need. The volunteers at Census Central will accept up to two lookups per e-mail request American Family Immigration History CenterIf you haven't discovered the incredible resource available at AFIHC, then you are in for a real treat. We now have access to online immigration records at Ellis Island for the years 1892 to 1924! Not only can you do a search for a particular ancestor, you can also view the manifest and get a history, including a picture if available, of the ship your ancestor arrived on! More features are being added so check back often. |
