My Cemetery Data spreadsheet is my first non-census creation. The next will be coming in a few weeks when I finish and release a spreadsheet for ship manifest data. Most researchers have one or more immigrant ancestors who arrived by ship in the 19th and early 20th centuries. My next spreadsheet will enable a user to electronically record manifest data. Still in the design stage, the spreadsheet will feature a worksheet to record multiple records from a single ship, and another to record data from multiple manifests. The concept is similar to what I did in the Cemetery Data spreadsheet. The worksheets will have many genealogically significant data fields, but will not necessarily match the exact format of any one particular manifest. This is because there is such a wide variety of mainfests used over the decades. But as with all of my spreadsheets, the design will be well organized and will also be very useful in professional appearing printing reports for book projects. My long term project is a spreadsheet for a research checklist. Nothing on "paper" yet as I am thinking through how to format what will end up being a very large number of data fields. I project an early 2005 release for the yet to be named spreadsheet. |
